Pirates of Reddit,
I know a lot of you are out there STRUGGLING to make your business model work. You doubt yourself and you wonder what the fuck you have to do to make this damn thing work.
I know the pain. I started my PR firm with zero fucking experience. ZERO. I founded a business magazine without any experience either. Between the two, I taught myself enough stuff to become a powerful force in PR for my clients and I never have to have a boss again.
What you need early stage is your “Cut the Russian” moment. Remember Rocky 4 where Rocky is fighting Drago who is all roided up and pissed? Drago is making pierogis out of his face, but Rocky lands that unbelievable moment where he lands a solid jab and cuts Drago’s face open.
You need that moment where you push past your fears and anxiety and that voice says to you, “THIS CAN WORK.” Here is how to make it happen
Services based business
Start by getting out a piece of paper and writing down the problem you solve, the pain points that your audience is going through and the services you offer to solve their problem. Then create some branded graphics on Canva that clearly illustrate your services. Pop them out to FB/IG/Twitter and every morning, post a question on FB to get people talking. My questions are usually based around visibility and generate leads every week.
Next, start shooting regular videos teaching your craft on these same platforms. TikTok is great because you can shoot a video, and instantly load it to IG/FB and Twitter very quickly.
Focus on the solution, NOT the sale, and have eye catching graphics. You’ll start to be seen as an authority if your stuff is good.
Goods based business
Most people just spam ads. Take it to the next level and focus on the lighting and background of your product shots. Use Tiktok to create high end promo videos and strategic hashtags to highlight your products. Use FB live once a week and host a QVC type format so people can see what you are selling.
My early years had shitty sales because I had ALL these kiss of death elements:
*Bad branding with primary colors
*No clear messaging
*No positioning
*Shitty photos with me scowling at the camera
*No client results
*No clear path for client services
Over time, my skillset and confidence improved. This in turn helped me make better content and attract higher end clients.
