Certainly an interesting group of names here. By my count there’s at least 8 guys here who were considered controversial or a part of a scandal or negative news story.
Likely first ballot (in order of likelihood):
- Big Ben
- Gronk
- Peterson
Likely will eventually get in:
- Whitworth (borderline first ballot)
- Sherman
- Cam
Mr Ballot Candidate
Mr Broken Cranium
The interesting one is MBC, and whether his late-career insanity, walking off the field in the Jets game, running an AFL team into the ground, and being basically garbage in many ways keeps him out. Spoilers; it probably does.
Gronk is the easy first-ballot guy. AP could legitimately be last the first-ballot RB we see maybe ever. Roethlesberger gets in at some point, Richard Sherman probably does thanks to a 3-4 year run where he was one of the best CBs around. Other than that, either no particularly strong feelings or a bunch of guys who won’t even get consideration.
No way he gets to give a speech in Canton. His career probably deserves it, but damn. They’ll find a way to keep him out.
No way Brown makes the Hall. Zero.
I don’t think he gets in, but Andrew Whitworth deserves consideration. I don’t think the Rams would’ve won that Super Bowl without him.
Cam Newton won a rookie of the year award and an MVP while carrying what was a terrible offense outside of him and an aging Olsen.
He would have a case if the Panthers didnt run him to the ground and actually gave him weapons and a line. Hes one of the biggest what if for me!
(I dont think he ever gets in)
At some point isn’t someone so bonkers you understand there’s a disorder there? Like Brett Fabre a raking money to me is worse than Antonio brown just being 6 star gta for a decade
Uhh Andrew Whitworth was a really fucking good tackle
The second he retired it was clear that he was basically the entire Rams offensive line for their Super Bowl run. Dude was so underrated.
He was always underrated in Cincinnati too, especially being in the shadow of all time great Joe Thomas in Cleveland.
Weddle the next guy up after the ones you listed. Pretty strong resume.
Andrew whitworth. Classic example of undervaluing the unsung heros
Richie Incognito should absolutely get in - if the only thing that matters is performance. Guy was an absolute terror on the football field. Apparently a terror off of it too
Surely Mack makes it. 3 x AllPro, 7 x ProBowl, Team of the Decade.
Derrick Henry won’t be another first-ballot RB?
Gronk is a mega lock, three rings two standing NFL TE records, like what 90 TDs from Brady?
8 guys? I’m really only seeing 3. Peterson, Antonio Brown and Big Ben. Oh Richie incognito too with the bullying thing
Out of everyone on this list AP, Sherman, Gronk, Weddle, Roethlisberger are probably the only ones for sure getting in.
Whit, AD and Gronk are the only no-brainer first ballot guys, imho.
Jimmy Graham is on an active roster today. Not sure he’s eligible that year.
Damn I had no idea he still played until right now
He’s back on the saints, caught a TD earlier this year
Against GB in GB of course. Because it’s everyone but the Bears turn to shit on GB.
Which is 20% of the amount of TDs he scored as a Packer.
I know graham won’t get in, but his career stats are pretty gaudy for a TE. Prime jimmy was a machine for brees
He’s got a ring with Drew at least
He might get in, but not first ballot.
I don’t see how Antonio brown gets in the way he ended and still carries on.
But he’s the all time leader in taking off your jersey and leaving mid game
In my Opinion…
#1st Ballot
-
Gronk
-
Peterson
#Probable/Eventual Hall of Famers (not 1st ballot)
- Roethlisberger
#Outside Chance But Not a Guarantee by Any Means
- Sherman
Everyone else has no chance in hell.
Weddle will get in eventually. 2010s all decade team and he came out of retirement for that Rams ring
I would only add Whitworth
I’d put Sherm in same tier as Ben and put Whitworth in the bottom tier. Sherman is the only Hall worthy corner entering the ballot in a minute and will be the only one for a bit.
And Whitworth I think eventually gets in. 2 first team all pros, 1 second team, 4 pro bowls and really should’ve been more. 16 years in the league and was the oldest offensive lineman to retire and oldest to win a Super Bowl. Also a Walter Payton man of the year award.
As a Cincinnati fan I do think the Rams run is what really will put him over the top and get him in. Getting a Super Bowl really helps Hall chances.

Incognito has no reason to be considered for the HOF. I don’t care if he was serviceable for the Raiders, he was a continuously dirty player. And then he wasted a roster spot and money after his injury. Keep him AHT
100% this
PFR’s HoF monitor has him at 34.5. The average HoF guard is 105.71. He isn’t even in the running.
Wtf is a legends score?
Score of legendness
Ah, yes, of course
Not sure but I’m glad they are finally looking at Nickelodeon’s legend, Alex Mack she held her own down
And how is Lev Bell rated higher than Big Ben?
How is Cam Newton? A few ridiculous years, but overall stats and career is not even close. I think Ben had more years making the playoffs than cam was even in the league.
MVP and first team All-Pro probably carries a ton of weight.
Peterson and Gronk are first ballot. I think Big Ben will only be waiting 3-4 years max. Richard Sherman probably gets in a awhile later. I mean Ronde Barber just got in. Antonio Brown would have been high on peoples lists but he’s too controversial now.
Andrew Whitworth is in, IMO, and Cam has a shot too.
4 Pittsburgh Steelers 😏
If AB makes it in, I’ll eat cereal with equal parts vodka and milk, and a splash of toothpaste. I think he’s burned too many bridges to be acknowledged in that way, regardless of how dominant he was.
I’m glad that I got to watch his play, though. And, a little guilty about it, that I got to enjoy his crazy saga.
Jack Doyle being on this random list is the closest he will ever be to being a HOFer
