Hello basketball fans. I was just looking for a ball to buy for some recreative basketball 3x3. Now I’m 6.25 ft (190.5cm) tall and I’ve been playing with my friends 6 size ball. I was surprised how much better my shooting and form was and ofcourse the grip was great. Now I’m not sure should I buy a 6 or 7 size ball considering I’m only playing 3x3 basketball and as hobby (recreative). Thank everyone for replying!
Should be a r/basketball question tho
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t know much about Ball size. But from what I looked up, “The official size of the basketball used by the NBA is 29.5 inches in circumference.” I’d use that. Seems most authentic.
Yea true I agree, but we should also consider that most professional players are like 6.4 ft (196-197cm) tall (minimum average) which also means their hand is larger. I mean you are right about the authentic size of the ball, but how realistic is it when most people who play recreative basketball are below 6.2 ft tall. Anyways thanks for replying!
How tall you are doesn’t matter…there are/were professional players shorter than you and they also play with the same ball…smaller ball sizes are normally meant for kids…
Yea but like 99% of pros were definitely above 6.3 ft tall which most definitely means larger hand size. FIBA 3x3 uses a 6 size ball and those guys are tall as well. Yea I grew up using 7, but 6 fits much better at least for me.
Everybody that plays basketball uses size 7 for men and 6 for women, it is like that. Even 13 year old kids play with that sizes.
Bro, we grew up playing with NBA size balls. You should just use the normal adult men’s size.
No one else is going to want to play with anything but a 29.5 inch ball. If you’re indoors, no one is going to want to play with anything but a Wilson Evolution
I would definitely use the ball 99% of the time outdoors. You would be surprised how many people come on courts with a 6 sized ball, but yea 7 size it’s still a majority on courts. Still I think that a 6 sized ball fits much better at least for me.
