Yeah it’s way too close for comfort, but it isn’t realistic to completely change the political landscape in one day or one election. I think with a bit of context, this is a huge win for the liberal party. A few short months ago they were projected to be completely wiped out at this election due to the previous leader’s unpopularity. That has not happened, and they have emerged with a new and recognisable leader in what looks to be a significantly stronger position. The important thing now is to limit the damage, and take back control of the narrative imo. Can’t get complacent - this is a clear step in the right direction, but needs to be followed up. I have some cautious… optimism? Eh maybe the wrong word, but: The sudden change in polls because of Trump isn’t going to evaporate easily. The man and party can’t shut up, and “if” (when, IMO) all the Nazi fears come true the youth bleeding over to conservatives will be watching too for the next 4 years.
