I am too excited for this.
I read the first one or two and enjoyed it, but personally felt like novella-ing these was a bit of a grift given how short they are. I didn’t shell out for the full set
Does the through line get good and does it conclude nicely? Or is it still going?
As I got older and dealt with various issues I struggled with reading (my favourite authors dying off didn’t help). Murderbot (along with Dungeon Crawler Carl and the Ciaphas Cain books from W40K) was my way of getting back on the horse whereas full length novels felt too overwhelming.
I’m on the 7th and most recent.
The thru line meanders a bit, but not too bad. I wish I had read them chronological instead of in order (5 and 6 are swapped, and 6 is a bit different tone)
I think of them as popcorn books. Very light, quick reads. I actually read the first two on a flight back from Europe. Definitely fun, somewhat predictable/formulaic but it doesn’t take anything away for me.
Yes would be OK if they were priced like novellas but I think because of the awards they’re ramped up
It’s still going and there are extra characters (good ones) added to the roster
There’s also a mystery of Murderbot remembering things that it shouldn’t
This looks like it could be great! Alex can only be a good thing and the story looks good
