I’m a steadily growing entrepreneur in the games industry, and while I’m now seeing some fruits of my labor, I sure am burnt the hell out.
What are your tried and true burnout techniques? How do you keep yourself afloat during the bad times, and how do you make sure momentum continues when you need rest?

Avoid burnout from the source. We here for the long run, our startup is only as valuable as our own mental health. Our company and “momentum” did not happen because the startup is such a great idea on its own, it gained momentum cuz of us, the founders. If I get achieve one thing, I can do it again. So it’s more important to preserve me, not the momentum.
Also I therapy once a week for 2 years ever since my startup is growing. It helps.

I walk daily. It does wonders, plus it great for getting ideas when you’re stuck on something. If you’re into some other form of exercise, start with at least one day a week.
It relieves stress, clears your mind and is good for your health.
I’m in ecom since 1029, and I can say I totally relate with you. It was tough, there are a lot of sleepless night, working more than 10hrs a day even on weekends, and rarely had time for myself. I had to step aside a little for my mental help. I did a lot of outdoor activities and set working time limited to not more than 8 hrs a day. I’m okay now, and my business in going strong. Exercise is a must. Eating healthy and dedicating time to walk the dog… Also, I’ve been leaning on other founders (and friends) and while it’s not commiserating, it is helpful to have that support group who can see the light through the clouds sometimes. I think others would benefit from that if they’re not already. Maybe I’ll start a members-only group or something.
completely disconnecting and gaming
I’m trying to avoid burnout by working more… not sure it’s working, but the business is progressing
Sim racing. It gives me motivation to step away once in a while, and get lost in something. And since I do tend to get lost in work for weeks at a time, when I do finally take a day or two for just racing, I don’t feel the least bit of guilt.
I take a trip every 6-8 weeks, sometimes it’s just one or two nights away, during the dark winter months I go somewhere warm for up to 3 weeks, completely disconnect for the first part, and I mean from everything, I read books and only use the phone if necessity arises. Exercising, like swimming helps me a lot too.
Totally get where you’re coming from with the burnout, it’s rough.
Here’s what I do: First, make sure you actually take breaks where you’re not just ‘kinda’ off work, but completely unplugged. Then, set some hard lines for when work starts and stops each day. And maybe find a hobby that’s way different from gaming or work, just to switch up your brain’s focus.
Exercise, eating healthy and maybe an uncommon on but doing something creative.
I juggle between my hustles and content creation. I find creativity relaxing and this let’s me break the rythm.
