Basically, the title
What year do you think have the toughest road in eastern conference. What about western conference?
I mean toughest as in most stocked in terms of quantity of great teams and contenders.
Most Lakers/Kobe Fans and Spurs/Duncan Fans will say it is one of the years in 2007-2010 for Western Conference. Do you agree?
What about the East? Old Heads are saying in the 80s, East was actually the stronger conference with Celtics, Sixers, Pistons, Bucks, Hawks, etc. But what particular year?
What about overall eastern/western conference combined? What year is the toughest?
I’d go with 83-84 for the East. They had 6 of the top 8 teams in the league in wins (1-Bos, 3-Phi, 4-Mil, 5-Det, 7-NYK, 8-NJN) and net rating (1-Bos, 2-Mil, 3-NYK, 6-Det, 7-Phi, 8-NJN). They had the league MVP (Bird), DPOY (Moncrief), and 6MOY (McHale) and the NBA champions (Bos).
To summarize:
- 80s: Weak West, Strong East
- 90s: Streaky West, Strong East
- 00s: Strong West, Weak East
- 10s: Strong West, Weak East
2010 West was nuts
Lakers Kobe
Dirk Mavs
Nash Suns
Melo Nuggets
Deron Jazz
Roy Blazers
Duncan Spurs
Young KD Thunder
90s (esp mid) the eastern conference was the toughest. MJ bulls were mainly the benchmark to measure if u’re a contendor but those hornets, heat, pacers, knicks, magic were seasoned rivals to MJ.
Western conference would be the year that gsw missed the playoff as 9th seed with 48 wins (or was it the suns) and every team that made the playoff had at least 50wins that season
