  • It’s situational. T-Mac and Dwight declined ahead of the curve because of injuries. Wade, Melo, Pierce all did between 33-35 like you said, but there’s no proof that some of the current guys won’t see that sudden sign of decline within the next couple of years similarly.

Also, players like Kawhi/Jimmy have a physical, deliberate style of play that ages gracefully. The shooters like Dame/Curry/KD will never lose that shooting touch unless their legs lose power entirely.

And then LeBron is the exception, not the rule.

  • Definitely watch some 70’s Pistons/80’s Bucks film if you have the time. It’s out there on YouTube, and Lanier is a dope center to watch (one of my favorites all-time)

    • Hook shot specialist, probably the 2nd greatest of all-time behind Kareem
    • Legitimate mid-range game that could definitely translate to today
    • High-volume passing big, but the numbers are misleading - he struggled with double teams and made a lot of impulsive decisions
    • Amazing rebounder
    • Iffy defender - was a prolific shot-blocker, but arguably chased that too much in favor of good positioning, and was super slow-footed so switching and transition were a death sentence for him
    • Amazing playoff performer who Detroit didn’t surround with enough talent to make a meaningful run in his prime
    • Made an immediate impact on the Bucks when he was traded there, despite being past his prime - they went 20-6 after he joined, good for a 63-win pace
    • Was absolutely an All-NBA-caliber talent that never won one because of how loaded center talent was in the 70’s

    1. No shot Iverson is greater than MJ, Kobe or Wade
    2. Curry is arguably the best offensive player in the league and backpacked a team to a championship last year, be for real
    3. There’s nothing Embiid does better besides shoot
    4. Randle isn’t a good enough playoff performer to be their #1
    5. CP3 has for the most part taken most organizations he goes to with open arms and elevate their play. Nothing compares to what KD did in 2016
