Williams said this on Trae Young’s podcast “From the Point,” referencing the Clippers’ loss in 7 games to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals.

Williams said, “We started to hear the rumblings that nobody is going to respect this chip so we kind of just took our foot off the gas”

NBA players acting like the bubble was like being in solitary confinement in a Siberian jail will forever be funny to me.

You know how much I would have loved to have a break from my family with Catered meals and time to play video games and hanging with my boys in 2020?!

They were playing ball while we were fighting over toilet paper and getting in that bitch Carol Baskin’s business. The nerve.

And it’s always the players who underachieved in the bubble lol

You understandably don’t hear anything from the champs or the finalists, but other early exit but still good teams like Dallas, Phoenix, Denver, Boston don’t have these constant “The bubble was literally the gulag” takes either.

The things is even if it was like that, everybody else was under the same circumstances so the ring itself still shouldn’t have an asterisk

These dudes were basically in a 5 star resort with nothing to focus on except for basketball, no travel, no nightlife, no media rumble and people pretend like that results in a less competitive basketball environment lmao…for a guy with no rings this is a pathetic statement.

Four of the Nuggets starting 5 come from a basketball background with a comfortable upbringing. Basketball is a skill sport that is getting more skilled every year

The majority of the league the last 15 or so years has been players from middle/upper middle and higher households. Guys like LeBron, AI, Jimmy Butler, etc are the outliers

You gotta have the work ethic and genetics to make it to the league, and then add resources (AAU, private workouts, etc) on top and those prospects naturally rise above

Older article but the point still stands

Then there’s Steven Adams who thought the opposite. Love him for that response. Lebron was so over dramatic about it. It’s okay Lebron you don’t need to try to justify the championship lol.

I’m gonna be honest… that’s ridiculous copium. How would you not be embarrassed to actually say those words 😭 it sounds like you’re trying to say you didn’t care even though you’re mentioning it years after the fact. And if it was true, then all that does is reflect poorly on you. Clippers fans would’ve loved a chip

Did he stop caring in game 2 when he shot 6-16 with 13 points?

Or game 3 when he shot 11 to score 10

Hb game 4 when he shot 10 to score 4

Had 7 points on 11 shots in game 7 🔥

Let it be remembered that they blew back to back double digit second half leads in games 5 and 6. I guess they remembered that they weren’t trying and let the nuggets come back everytime

Let’s be real the only reason people don’t respect the bubble ring is because LeBron and the Lakers won that year.

Even worse. they were up big in all 3 close out games. So they didn’t even pack it in up 3-1, they packed it in at half-time of each close out game. Began each game wanting the chip then at half-time reading twitter and deciding they didn’t really want to win x3.

Kawhi, Paul George and Lou Williams locked in a bubble without girls?

Of course they were gonna choke the one season they were healthy.

I’ll defend trae young from now until he demands a trade because he’s the best passer in the league and a damn showman and y’all better show him the respect he deserves. But you’ll never ever catch me listening to that podcast lmao.

You have so many chances to make fun of Lakers fans saying wild shit on this sub, and you choose a comment where a Lakers fan is being reasonable?
