Given the Sixers surprising 8-1 start to the season, it seems more likely that they will attempt to make some sort of in-season acquisition in an attempt to increase their likelihood of being legitimate title contenders. Who do y’all see Morey realistically targeting to achieve this?

My prediction’s no in season trade, they’ll try to take a swing in free agency and if they miss then they’ll trade all the assets.

Yeah this season was always a gap year for them ever since Harden requested a trade. They’re in better position now though than they were before the Harden trade

They don’t have the luxury of a gap year in my opinion. Embiid is getting older and is always slowed by injuries late in the season. That will only get worse with time.

Unless they can pull off a LaVine trade midseason then idk what they can do to change that. Sure they have a good team in the regular season but how would that hold in the playoffs?

Morey said he wants a two-way player so it’s likely to be someone like Caruso or OG. My only question is how much offensive fire power he’s after, Caruso is maybe a 5th option on a championship team.

Caruso is definitely this weeks fan favorite but since it’s Morey I’d still say OG or Mitchell are the betting favorites

Something the Bulls have at the deadline for hopefully not a ton of assets. Maybe Caruso but also maybe Derozan. His shooting would be nice.

this would be absolutely huge. both expiring contracts (2m guaranteed for Bogdan) and guys who can handle the ball while Maxey is on the bench. Bogey is a bit redundant with Tobias but a significantly better catch & shoot player. I would hope that 1 FRP + a couple 2nds and expiring contracts would get this done, but I think the pistons will have plenty of suitors for these two guys. The Heat come to mind as a team who could send over a couple picks or picks + young talent and easily beat a Sixers offer.

Sixers need a starting SF, Oubre/Batum aren’t going to cut it as starters for an actual contender.

Idk about Oubre but Batum absolutely will. He’s good defensively and a very good high volume shooter next to Embiid/Maxey is ideal.

      He’s essentially a better Niang

Another consistent scorer. Zach Lavine type player. Despite Maxey’s explosion to start the season, come May or June, him and Embiid are not enough. They need another consistent scorer

I’d love Brogdon but health is a major issue he fits well as he can score but isn’t ball dominant so he won’t take away from Maxey. He’d push Melton to the bench and that would give Philly two 10+ ppg bench scorers once Kelly is back. Probably would just take Morris, Furk and a first.

Caruso is good but I feel his value is out of whack at least by r/nba standards, everyone is saying a first minimum but possibly 2 FRPs. If that is the case, then are the Bulls expecting 4 FRPs for Lavine? How many do they expect for Derozan? AC would be great but I’m prohibitive of the price and generally think the sub is off on what his eventual value will be but we’ll see.

Also down for Marcus Smart who I think fits what Morey kind of hinted at what he wanted to add on that podcast. Defender, can score and shoot well enough and playmake. It would depend on how he is trying to use cap space.

Overall, I wouldnt go with a huge splash or a ball dominant guy that is going to take the ball away from Maxey either. There aren’t many wings/forwards available that are great fits to me.
