Had/have nerve issues due to bulging discs. Dr put me on gabapentin and tramadol. Said tramadol was classified as a narcotic but wasn’t like opiates. All I can say is gabapentin and tramadol did nothing for the pain and other issues.
I’m glad I quit taking it, honestly at this point I try not to take anything if I can push through it. I spent way too long taking too much ibuprofen and that messed me up, last thing I need is long term opiate use and all the mess that goes with that.
Tramadol is a weird one. It is an opioid, but it’s also an SNRI (serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor). It’s actually not really safe to be taking with something like a TCA because of that (risk of Seratonin syndrome).
They’re still prescribed together quite often, despite that.
