Big Al has never gotten the credit he deserves as a defender, but at least people know he sons Embiid.
I hate to be part of the, “Marcus Smart shouldn’t have been DPOY!” crowd, but imo if anyone on the 2021-22 Celtics should’ve been DPOY it wasn’t Smart or Robert Williams, it should’ve been Horford. His defensive communication, rim protection and ability to body up opposing bigs, all while also being a great perimeter defender was the key to unlocking Rob’s offball rim protection. Without Horford that defense never works because Rob wouldn’t have been able to play offball as much.
