Chet Holmgren’s rookie year stats are insane. 15.7 pts, 2.6 assists, and 7.5 rebounds (with 2 blocks and 1 steal) per game.
Throw in his shooting splits of 52.7 / 46.3 / 90, a feat achieved only by nine other players in the NBA, and you not only have an argument for rookie of the year but a historic one at that.
For comparison, Wembanyama is averaging 18.6 points, 2.5 assists, and 9.3 rebounds (with 2.4 blocks and 1 steal) per game, but at much less efficient 43.2 / 28.3 / 76.6 shooting splits.
Regardless, excited to witness the dawn of what could be basketball’s next great rivalry.
Who do you guys think deserves ROY?
I’m not sure, I’m mostly just excited to see this debate on this sub every day for the next five months.
Duncan vs KG 2.0
LeBron vs Melo 2004 vibes?
There’s an old video out there on YouTube showing Hubie Brown calling a game from '78 (I think) that featured Bill Cartwright versus Joe Barry Carroll, and Hubie Brown states, “this is the future of the NBA.”
Maybe closer to that.
The “splits” passion is so weird and undying. Like, here’s how they shoot on two-pointers AND three-pointers together… and now I will say about ONLY three-pointers… I will not say anything about only two-pointers, who cares… and now only free-throws, for some reason one category is just normally separate lol.
I love Wemby v Chet. I’m so glad we have another Jokic v Embiid MVP debate. Such an exciting discussion that’s not at all tedious
i refreshed the page because i thought this was the same post of chet’s stats from like two days ago and i had just left a tab open
