I saw a post on here about longines conquest being a daytona homage. by that logic is the daytona (introduced 63), a speedmaster homage (introduced 57)?

After all, omega was the one to introduce the tachymeter. And speedmaster had both the chrono + tachymeter. Daytona may have changed the colors (as did longines) but the concept is the same.

and summing up, is the speedmaster thus the more iconic watch given its profile for being the first of its kind and the first to space.

No, it is not a Speedmaster homage. The Rolex 6238 (“Pre-Daytona”) was created when NASA requested submissions from Rolex and several other brands, including Omega, for a competition to choose an official “space program watch”. Entries had to meet a certain set of specifications, set by NASA, then those entries were subjected to testing. Omega won out after testing, and Rolex went on to release a modified version of their own entry as the Daytona.

A homage is a watch made to look like another watch.

The Daytona looks nothing like a speedmaster at all in any way aesthetically.

Sharing a certain complication and having those markers on the watch does not make something a homage watch.

That’s like saying if a watch has marked minutes it’s a homage to something.
