I haven’t read whatever letter you guys are talking about and frankly I don’t give a fuck what it says.

Find someone better to quote than fucking Osama bin Laden. Jesus Christ.

This is NOT the letter! I found the exact same page when I searched for it, I don’t know where this is from, but it is not Bin Laden’s letter.

If you want to find it, search for the page from The Guardian (they have removed the text but the page is still around) and use the Wayback Machine.

I mean, if people want to waste their time reading the manifesto of a terrorist, they should and least make it interesting and read that of the Unabomber.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the type to go around posting terrorist manifestos lol. It’s only because this was in the news

For those out of the loop/who have forgotten: A lot of Christians got really into “Israel” around the turn of the century because of the weird end times native they liked. In the “rapture” idea (like the “Left Behind” books), Israel has to exist as a state (maybe with all the territory Palestine was made up of) before the rapture could happen. So they got really into Israel as a foreign policy objective, and this included the Bush Jr administration.

To be clear, though: Israel has to exist and there can’t be any Jews in it before the second coming of Jesus can happen. But the Palestinians have to die first.

The Israeli government understood this but figured they may as well take advantage of it while it was popular.

Being pro-Palestine is so trendy at the moment that some people will unthinkingly parrot any rhetoric that criticises Israel, even if it’s horrific anti-semitic remarks like these.

I think a big part of this story is the Streisand effect. A lot of people are talking about the letter itself, whether it should be accessible for academic reasons, the propaganda aspect, why it was effective back then, etc.

I’m sure there are also people supporting it, both kids being edgy and people being awful. The part that’s cloudy is how many are doing that, and how many are talking about the situation itself

No, Bin Laden did 20 years ago in that letter you say you’ve read.

But do the parts about governments “surrendering to Jews”, talking about how the creation of Israel was a “crime that needed to be erased”, that the Jews have “taken control of the economy, the media and now control all aspects of life, making you their servants” ring a bell?

well, technically, the whole “creation of Israel” thing is just the propagation of colonialism and about as morally justifiable as Rwanda.

most of the other stuff was just conspiracy shit, tho.

According to some newer reports the TikToks only went viral after a tweet complaining about them went viral.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

A 9/11 families group called out TikTok on Friday over a letter by Osama bin Laden that has recently gone viral.

“It is appalling to witness younger Americans voicing sympathy for bin Laden’s dangerous and antisemitic worldview 22 years after our nation was horrifically attacked and our loved ones were callously murdered by Islamists who were financially supported by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and at Osama bin Laden’s direction.”

Bin Laden’s 2002 “Letter to America,” which was published nearly a year after the 9/11 attacks, has recently made its rounds online.

Many videos showed support for the al Qaeda leader’s argument and suggested to others that they read the letter in light of the U.S.’s backing of Israel in its war against the militant Palestinian group Hamas.

“Content promoting this letter clearly violates our rules on supporting any form of terrorism,” TikTok Policy posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The number of videos praising bin Laden’s argument is not large, TikTok said, despite some reportedly garnering hundreds of thousands of views and likes.
