Let’s take last night’s OKC v GS game for example. Chet hits a buzzer beater 3 to tie the game and send it into OT. Amazing. People on the court and at home watching their TVs are going wild.

Video: https://streamable.com/9oke28

But then 0.001 seconds after the shot: “His foot was on the line though I think” (and clearly it wasn’t).

This particular guy does it like every single time. I don’t know who he is but he has this dumb habit of trying to put doubt in the viewer’s head immediately after something great happens. I’ve absolutely heard him go “BUT WAS IT A 3!?” in similar situations where it was indisputably a 3. He does it just to be a dick.

Steph could drop a full court shot and this idiot would still be like “bUt WaZ hIs fOoT bEhInD tHe LiNe!?”

Like shut the fuck up and let people enjoy the moment unless you’re 100% sure

Warriors announcers are bottom tier. They literally make stuff up as we watch the replay of whatever they’re discussing.

Yea, it is totally fair and I expect some homerism when watching a local broadcast. But they should still be somewhat professional. The warriors are way too homer and turn into whiners when shit goes against them. I switch to anyone else when I have the option.

The warriors announcers are the absolute worst. Since I stream all the games I watch, I get the away feed quite often. Last night, I watched the Timberwolves play the Pelicans on the New Orleans feed.

I was pleasantly surprised. Their announcers hardly showed any home team bias. They seemed to be calling everything like it was, good or bad, for whichever team. The Timberwolves announcers do this as well.

However, I watched the Timberwolves play in Golden State twice last week, their announcers each game. Absolutely insufferable. Everything the warriors did was great, everything the wolves did should have been called a foul. The bias was so bad I had to mute it.

For the record, the Minnesota Vikings radio announcer Paul Allen is way too strong of a homer. He calls things reasonably fairly, and will admit when whichever team does something good or bad. But he celebrates the most minor things the Vikings do too hard. He adds additional praise when minor praise would do. He is too excited at any given moment and it makes him look like a total homer. I can’t listen to him.

Even beyond being fair, they were just like genuinely excited as basketball fans once or twice when Ant had an amazing drive. Just like I’m excited to see Ingram make amazing shots even though I want him to miss everything. Announcers who just completely ignore the other team piss me off.

I don’t mind home team bias. Especially from the color commentator. As long as you’re keeping it fair and acknowledge great plays when they happen, it’s fine if you can tell which team they’re rooting for.

The Warriors announcers are straight garbage though.

The entire vibe of their broadcast is that they’re salty they’re not going 73-9 anymore and will grasp at anything to convince the viewer that’s still possible before they all get bored and abandon the team.

There’s ALWAYS something. “Was it a 3?” “Did the clock expire?” “Did he step out of bounds?” “Looks like maybe a shooting foul?” “Yup, look! A bit of contact on the wrist! That should be a FT.”

      It’s pathetic and embarrassing.

Homerism is annoying especially with the warriors broadcast. But it is part of sports. Even if they’re teaching a legion of young warrior fans the wrong idea of sportsmanship.

Eventually warriors fans will understand how to deal with losses because their window is closing for good this season

I understand Homerism, its just sometimes it comes off as gaslighting. When its a blatant foul/or a call against you don’t try to justify it, just say sometimes things dont go your way. Or even say we got away with one there when your team gets a bounce. Just like Friday it was evident that Jwill got fouled on a layup and the refs missed it, just day we got away with one instead, say it was all ball when his whole fore arm get hit before the ball.

As European who basically watches games the day after Im sometimes baffled how shit the commentating is.

Sometimes I feel like the commentators are more busy sucking each other off or reading stat lines (or sheets) than anything else.

I think it’s definitely an added value to mention things like ‘player x played good last game(s)’ etc, but just adding random info most of the time adds nothing to the game.

Luckily not every game this is tue case, but Ive watched some where it was just annoying as fuck

This wasn’t even the worst moment. Earlier in the 4th the Warriors had an unsuccesfull challenge for a foul against SGA. Wiggins fouled SGA and after that got a clean block. During the replay the casters kept cpmplaining that the whistle didnt come after the foul but after the block, which was a second later. Literally complaing that the refs don’t have super human reaction speed.

It was a super weak call, it should not have been called a foul on Wiggins, unless you want marginal contact which the offensive player initiates called every time

It’s not going to be overturned but it shouldn’t have been called in the first place

That first bump WAS super light though, so I think everyone was confused if that’s where they were calling the foul or not, and a late whistle didn’t help. It was a reasonable question.

I think the immediate doubt on Chet’s turnaround 3 was worse. That was an amazingly athletic shot by a rookie with 1.6 on the clock in a great game. It totally stole the moment from Chet.

The only time I’ll allow this is if people are calling plays for that wife beater’s name. I have huge respect for Eric Collin’s yesterday because that dude just called the play as nonchalantly as he could. Usually he would scream on the top of his lungs whenever lamelo threw a lob at him. I think he even made a slight jab at him (although I’m not sure if that was intentional or not).
