I am talking about a player that is not as bad as people make him out to be, or perhaps that is held to an unreasonable standard. Like, yo, that is our third string center, OF COURSE he’s not going to be as good at (fill in the blank starter). A lot of times this is a star too of course. Or maybe it is a guy that is in fact good, but since he’s getting paid X amount, then he gets hate because he’s not prime MJ.

And as a bonus, who is the player that you think gets irrational support from this same fanbase?

    Harrison Barnes. Not that all of it is unwarranted but the matter-of-fact nature where people are like “we should trade HB for a better starter who doesn’t complain about guarding bigger players, is an elite 3pt shooter and doesn’t mind being the 4th or 5th option on offense” like this archetype just grows on trees is pretty wild.
