After the draft, Chet said he thought he could be 50/40/90. Did he bring this dream to the rest of OKC?
The Oklahoma City Thunder are shooting a blistering 55.5% from 2, 41.0% from 3, and 86.7% from the line. This is the recipe for their hot start despite being consistently out-rebounded night after night.
Is Chip Engelland a god after all? Obviously this has to come back to down Earth at some point, right?… right?

Derek Harper approves this thread title
Maybe even crazier is they are only 6th in offensive rating despite that cuz they turn the ball over and are last in offensive rebounding.

No, we dont have to come back down to earth. smokes more hopium
You look at their roster and you really can’t see what “win now” move they could make that would really be worth it. Giddey and several firsts for a better point guard? He’s playing really well and is cheap as hell. Literally what move could they make? A big man? It would have to be an MVP level guy and they aren’t available.
Dort + Bertans + picks for Siakam maybe? It’s really hard to say what they should do
What happens when you take ‘Where Did He Come From Where Did He Go’ Isaiah Joe out of the equation?
Why is Adam Silver allowing this to happen?!?
You’ll rarely take a bad shot with SGA is on your team
Someone tell me this is sustainable please
I got you fam. This is for sure sustainable
Probably not if only because the entire rotation except Kenrich and JWill have been healthy, and stars missing games leads to role players getting inefficient looks. That said, it’s not a stretch to say this is the best-shooting Thunder team ever.
this is sustainable
it’s not.
I would say not but even dropping off a good amount the Thunder will still win a lot of games.
Not a chance. That said, they are generating a ton of wide open looks - 3rd in the league in shot frequency with closest defender 6+ feet away
They are currently the most efficient scoring team in NBA history. They’re a whopping 1.9 TS% better than the 2017 Warriors. I wouldn’t rule it out, but there’s a lot of season left.
Okc is going to be great for years . They are drafting really well and Sam presti the GM makes really good trades . Hes top3 active GMs on my list . And they have so many draft picks left . Once these guys develop they will be a problem for the rest of the league .
how the hlel
OKC looking st0rmy
Chip Engellend for assistant coach of the year
So glad we let him walk to save a few pennies.
I cant say for sure that we are this good efficiency-wise but for sure we are a damn great free throw shooting team. Our worst starter at free throws is Giddey and I really don’t even think hes that bad at them. Shai and Chet look like they could easily average 90+% for a long time, JDub looks like an upper 80’s free throw guy at worst and I don’t see Lu being any worse than upper 70%s.
Then on the bench you have these dawgs like Cason Wallace who as a rookie hardly misses any shots in general when he takes them much less misses any free throws (I think he might literally be 100% this season on them no joke). Isaiah Joe doesn’t miss anything really either. Goddamn big man Jaylin Williams has a nice free throw stroke to go along with his pretty good three point shot. Aaron Wiggins is an efficient mofo. Micic seems solid enough at the line. Even Dieng when he plays makes free throws. Its quite crazy to see. I think we legitimately have a chance to be one of the greatest free throw shooting teams ever.
Oh yeah Kenrich is godawful at free throws though he seems to be the outlier.
I cant say for sure that we are this good efficiency-wise
Oh I can - we’re definitely not this good. That 41% mark from deep is not just leading the league this year, it’s on par with the 15-16 Warriors and the SSOL Suns as the second or third highest percentage of all time. They’ll definitely cool off a little.
The guys to monitor will be Lu and Chet, who are both en fuego at 46% at pretty high volume right now. Lu’s form does look better and Chet has great touch, but I’d be amazed if they both finish above 40%, honestly even high 30s would be a success as far as I’m concerned.
Lu is also taking only open 3s, compared to past seasons where he was heaving off the dribble a lot though. Although im sure it still comes down
At what point do we start to consider them dark horse championship contenders?
Once they figure out how to rebound consistently.
Our offense is great, our defense is better
