What an insane start to the season all around for Indiana 🤯
It’s kinda crazy how we talk about pace of play in the modern nba as well as the intense defense back in the day but still those insane scoring outburst records are unbroken
Looking at the list it seems like the style of basketball back in the day was just as fast pace as it is now.
Those Denver teams were 21st and 13th in Offensive Rating and that Spurs team was 3rd in the league. All 4 teams led their respective years in Pace. The Spurs and this years Pacers both played about 1 possession per game above the 2nd place team and about 5 possessions above league average. The 88 Nuggets were basically tied with the Warriors for pace and were 7 possessions above league average. The 91 Nuggets went insane and were 10 possessions above the 2nd place Warriors and 16 possessions per game above league average.
Doug Moe didn’t fuck around.
That 1990-91 Denver Nuggets team was 21st in offensive rating by the way, they just played with such an unbelievably batshit pace
They also have allowed the most points by any team this season lol
Toppin’s impact is really being felt.
