Hi guys, this is the Omega silver snoopy award 50th anniversary speedmaster (geez that’s a mouthful). This watch has been on my radar ever since it was announced 3 years ago. What captivated me the most about the watch was its unique case back design. This is also what I liked about Omega, their innovation and willingness to design something out of the ordinary.
I was originally on the waitlist from my boutique 3 years ago. However, my boutique had to close due to their lease ending. My information and my spot on the waitlist was transferred to another boutique close by….and thats when i gave up hope on obtaining this at retail.
The new boutique SA told me that I cannot be grandfathered into their waitlist and that I’d need to build a spending history with them. At that point, I’ve already owned 12 Omega watches and nothing interests me anymore from the brand apart from the snoopy and the ed white.
After checking prices on secondary market and knowing is close to retail, I pulled the trigger and got myself this watch.
This will probably be my last watch from Omega after my experience at the boutique as well as the recent shift in their marketing strategy for their popular watches.
What do you mean by their shift in marketing strategy for popular watches?
