There are always those players that a lot of fans haven’t realized have gotten washed and are therefore shocked when they are traded/released, or players that simply aren’t worth the cap hit. So which are those players for your favorite team?

If I had to guess probably George Fant. He’s played very well, starting at RT for a good portion of the season. But that’s because we lost all of our LGs for the season due to injury. So our original RT tytus howard has been playing at LG.

We have both our tackles signed for the next 3 years, and with how desperate the league is for competent OL play, Fant has probably played himself into starter money somewhere else on the market.

Niners might have to choose between Chase Young and Aiyuk unless they go full all-in mode.

I feel like the Niners made the Young trade fully accepting that there’s a strong chance it’s a rental

You guys need to stop this Aiyuk free agent nonsense.

The first year of a potential Aiyuk extension will take place the year after Deebo’s contract expires. They will be able to keep Aiyuk and let Defbo walk.

Free third round comp pick if they let Chase sign elsewhere. Win win for them either way. The offense need Ayuk more than the defense needs Young.

Gabe Davis, I personally can’t wait. He’s such a limited player and his biggest upside is blocking which is totally what you look for in a #2 WR. Plus he thinks he deserves wider receiver one money so hard pass for me

GOOD. I’m sick of watching passes off his hands turn into picks. I think Brady realized Gabe is a literal trap to throw to, and that’s why we saw a big game out of Shakir last week. Hoping they keep giving him looks because he has an explosive element that is hard to quantify.

They will have Wan’Dale and Hyatt but everyone else is up for grabs. I honestly could see Davis being looked at by Schoen and Daboll due to familiarity. But the same was thought a few years ago when the Giants were supposed to sign G Andrew Norwell in free agency coming off an AP season and being drafted by Gettleman in Carolina. He went to the Jaguars instead for more money.

People got way too high on him because of one 4 TD playoff game and he wasn’t good before that and hasn’t been great since. For your sake I hope he’s gone too.

    Chris Jones.

For so many people they just assume that he’s a Chief for life, and he has certainly said that he wants that, but his tag number next year almost guarantees that he’s going to get to free agency if we don’t get a new contract done ahead of time.

Exactly. I wasn’t necessary saying we draft and replace anyone. I was just saying we can continue grooming younger guys and continuous slot new guys in when available so the line remains strong for a long time.

As much as I love Shep, this wouldn’t be a surprise. He has had so many injuries and has such a small role now that he won’t be on the team next year. I really hope they bring him back as a coach though.

For non Giants fans, I’d say Azeez Ojulari.

Too many times he’s been injured and unavailable.

Other notable guys gone are Parris Campbell, Adoree Jackson, Mark Glowinski, and Tyrod Taylor. These guys wouldn’t be surprising to even non fans though.

Idk if other people are aware that Ronnie Stanley has been struggling so badly this year. I don’t know what the cap situation is but if it’s feasible I wouldn’t be shocked to see him gone. Otherwise, most aren’t really guys who aren’t worth what they’re paid, we just can’t afford to pay them (Madubuike, Queen).

Maybe Lockett. He’s due to make $27M next season and while his play hasn’t necessarily dropped off, he has talked about not wanting to play until he’s old and also got his real estate license last year. The FO cut Wagner in 2022 which makes me think he isn’t safe considering we’ll have lots of holes to fill.

As it sits he also would have the 8th highest cap hit among receivers next season and while I love the guy, I don’t know that he’s worth it at that price.

Seahawks also drafted JSN last year. I bet they didn’t draft him to be the #3 guy. He’s 100% Lockett’s replacement.

His cap hit is $24.5M in 2024, so slightly less expensive. While he’s a bit more inconsistent and a step away from truly being elite, he’s obviously younger and his best season is better than any individual season Lockett has had (and earned him a 2nd team All Pro nod).

Without a restructured contract, I don’t think this is that surprising for anyone paying attention. The FO is clearly focused on getting younger and rebuilding, and while TL is a big culture/leadership guy, the price tag is too high moving forward. Based on his own words about wanting to retire soon, and the drafting of JSN who seems like a de facto eventual replacement, I think his time with the Hawks is nearing the end. It’ll suck, but it’s part of the business.

But they’d have to trade him somewhere (for basically nothing but here please take this contract off our hands) for that to make sense right?

Currently his contract runs through 2025, but after next year the cap hit to cut him drops from roughly $20M to $10M which I think could be when they part ways if he doesn’t just retire. I’m not sure if Tyler would even want to be traded at this point in his career, and I agree that his salary makes it unlikely that they could recoup much for moving him so I think it’s more likely he stays for another year and then is either cut or hangs it up but the writing is on the wall with how the team has been rebuilding imo.

If you cut him or trade him its the same dead cap and the team trading for him would only have to pay him 15 million in 2024 and 25. I could see you guys seeing if you could trade him like KC.

Danielle Hunter. He’s putting up a “give me the bag” type year and has a no-tag clause. He’ll take the opportunity to test FA for sure.

I thought he was leaving, but with the current state of the team I think he stays & I think the team can afford it especially if they go cheap + a rookie at QB.

Feel like I haven’t heard his name enough. This year it’s all about Myles Garrett, but Hunter is only 1 sack behind him. He’s nuts, and without a huge QB contract I’m not sure why you guys couldn’t pay him.

Its amazing how much better some players play in that contract year. I remember for years and years after we drafted Bud Dupree he was underwhelming. but as soon as his contract year hit, he decides to step up his production big time and become the player we were hoping he’d be, and unaffordable. Then after he gets paid by the Titans he immediately resumes his normal level of play.

I would cream if the falcons got him - god knows we’ve needed someone who can get to the QB forever, but I suspect he’s going to want a contender to come for him and I suspect they will.
