This is fair but one of the more insidious idea floated regarding this election is that it’s not about what Mamdani intends to do as much as it’s about the fact that the donor class lost this election.
They don’t lose. Even when Bernie was doing so well they did not lose. They simply don’t lose.
This is a mayor. It’s not that big a deal for them in the vast scheme of things in terms of one single city. It’s what the win means. And the possibility that it maybe, just maybe, could happen on a national scale, especially if he’s successful.
