Making a gambling startup and this is my main issue, I don’t have masses of funds yet and so cannot offer cash to employees. What is the best way to headhunt/offer equity to people.

Keep in mind marketing gambling has specific regulations, depending on the type of gambling certain sites don’t even allow promoting it or have strict rules. And it generally takes a lot of money to get influencers to promote gambling or to run paid ads for it as you’re competing against the big boys. But also what are you doing at your startup if you’re looking for someone to do marketing and someone to build it?

Agreed, if they can’t do marketing or tech, and it’s an online startup, they’d better have incredible business skills and be well networked in the industry, or have a lot of cash.

I’ve got a good business aptitude, sourced funding, & am designing the platforms frontend etc.

I plan on running the business side of the platform, in terms of marketing I am capable of doing it myself / creating content however I’d need to consult with people to learn it better.

Both of those roles are in very high demand and pay well, so you’re going to have to have definitive proof of a product market fit, and bring an equal amount of value to the table. It’s not easy to get people to work for you for free, and if you’re at a very early stage, your equity is still worthless.
