Hi all, I am an Italian fresh NBA supporter!!

I am really fond of the whole NBA show which grabs my attention everyday. Now I would like to route for a team to support: since I am not living in US, and I cannot feel the spirit of the team, I must leverage on different drivers like team history, player attractiveness and super important a bright future ahead.

I would love to receive some insights from you all!!

    Spurs as they have a track record of being a good team with a winning culture and are set to do the same in the future.

    You have to go for the most reliable franchises in NBA history. So I would go for the Washington Wizards or the Charlotte hornet’s. Both with great history and excellence

      Actually i am from europe and support gsw. Just get a nba tv yearly subscription, its fairly cheap, like 15 euro per year for me…

    Points for the spurs

    5 championships since 1999. Most recent in 2014 with Italian-born Marco Belinelli. If you want to dive deeper into the history, the team just put out a huge documentary series called Ring of the Rowel (a rowel is the spiky rotating part at the end of a spur) we also have the winningest coach in NBA history, Gregg Popovich.

    Fairly bright future seeing as we just drafted a highly touted prospect named Victor Wembanyama. He’s 7’4 but has the skills of a guard which is very rare. He leads all players this year in terms of highlights viewed on the NBA YouTube channel or something like that.

    Quick caveat

    The team isn’t great right now. We’re the youngest team in the league and we’re on a ten game losing streak. We’re still in the experimental stage. But on the bright side, this is the ground floor. There’s nowhere to go but up.

      Also worth noting if you’re in Italy. Aint a dang chance you’re catching more than 2 games live this season without staying up until dawn if you’re watching the Spurs

    I wouldn’t jump and choose a team just yet. Watch some highlights and a few games and find a team you personally enjoy watching. Maybe find a player or two that you find entertaining to watch. I would recommend choosing an east coast team just so it will be easier for you to watch. There’s nothing worse than supporting a team that you find no enjoyment in watching

    You can’t ask people which team to root for that’s just weird. If you consistently watch then pick whichever team you like watching the most or the team of your favorite player

    Something you can try is taking your two most traveled destinations and choosing a team which is the least out of your way when traveling between those two places. However, you should also consider other factors as well, such as the quality of the roads, usual traffic, available rest stops etc.

    That’s typically how I route for an NBA team.
