Can anyone explain why NBA teams have more than double the 5 players needed on the court on the bench every game? Has it ever happened that five players were injured in one game? It just seems silly to me. Most of these poor guys play 0 minutes. They may as well be cheerleaders.
And relative to baseball, which consists of a bullpen full of guys who get regular usage and four bench position players who will see game action a couple of times a week at least, it just seems weird.
Rotations might be bigger than 10. Injuries can happen and situations need to be managed.
