Hello all,

Could you please recommend a photo sharing app where family members in different households can access shared photos using different passwords but can access the same files?

My family of 25 goes on vacation twice a year (reunion and Mom’s birthday), and we have multiple photos that we need to share with each other from our individual cameras.

This happens when I take photos of my siblings using my camera and I have to share them, and vice versa. So, for like 10 individual cameras, we have to share each other’s photos (and it hasn’t happened yet).

We tried Google Photos and iCloud, and it’s not what we wanted.

Some of my family members are not really tech-savvy, and we just want something straightforward. We’re looking for an app where even just four people can share each other’s photos. Something like, when they open the app, we will see all the folders with all our names. For example, we will create a John folder, and within John’s folder are his photos from 10 different cameras.

I checked PCloud, and I read that they just deleted the account without warning.

I’m looking at Proton Drive, and it looks good, but I don’t see many reviews. Are there any other recommendations?

Thank you!

I used to use Shutterfly for our family reunion photos. Everyone had the same password and could access all the photos. You could make folders for different trips or family members. It was easy enough for even the older, non-tech-savvy. I stopped using them when they required you to make a purchase every 18 months, and only because I am in Canada and didn’t want to deal with shipping costs.

Smugmug or Dropbox. I’m a huge smugmug fan. I’ve used it for years for both personal and client photos.

I love photo circle. I generally use it per event, but I suppose it could be set up per family member as well

What was it about Google Photos that didn’t work? It tends to be a very simple, very easy way to upload and share with a file structure like you want. Dropbox will be similar. But I think adding in what you didn’t like about the options you tried might help point to something helpful!
