Anyone had any cool experiences up north in the winter? Kinda gets boring having nice weather 12 months a year. Wondering if anyone had posted up and skied for months at a time or anything similar.

Interesting idea…supposed to be very, very cheap right now, from what I’ve heard. Might be something to look into…

So funny you say that. I spent a few weeks there over the summer in the off season when I passed through Bulgaria. I was considering it as an option.

Do you have any sense of how expensive it is to stay during peak season? And maybe more importantly, whether there’s a culture of solo travelers passing through? Would be super cool to stay in hostels and meet people then go skiing during the day. I stayed only in hotels when I was there, though.

It may come as a shock, but the original post was asking for a bit more nuance than “Are there any countries in the world that get cold in the winter?” Lol.

I stayed in Chamonix, France for 2 months last winter. I would snowboard all morning and start work at 3pm. It is kinda expensive but very fun and you can get around using the bus.
