I’ve read that some are cheap plastic, some are made of composites and used in higher end movements. Apparently plastic has less friction than metal. Plastic gears leach oil as they age, adding self-lubricating? I know there are very poor quality metal gear trains, but wasn’t aware of high quality plastic/composite gear trains. Thanks.
