Damn, grew up in Mass., and blew the remaining dregs of my watch money yesterday.
What would the repair fee range be for a Starking automatic that’s never run? Crown goes “whirr,” doesn’t wind the mainspring, and I can adjust the hands fine. Thanks.
Surprised no comments wars about if and when a homage is a fake or not.
Well, it does have a battery, it’s just charged by light. It will eventually need replacement.
Not a fan of skeletons, but looks pretty decent.
Way too big, unless you have an 8" plus wrist.
Edit: Most non-watch people would think that’s expensive, and almost none of my watches cost me that much.
Thanks, didn’t know it had a name.
Where is Armitron? They’re the little still American watch brand that often can.
I know actual upper-middle class professional people. Know what they wear? Stuff like low-end Timex and low-end Citizen. They’d find a low-end Tissot extravagant, and have no idea what is more expensive than a Rolex.
Never liked this watch. But I’m not a Patek fan in general.
Hamilton PSR. And of course GS.
The gold is worth about $63.68 atm. If you sold it, maybe get 90% of the value at max, since it’s pure. Uncertain.
I see. Thanks, didn’t know Movado did that. Well, 1975 $29K debased US currency is 2013 nearly $166K debased US currency, 471.9%.
Wouldn’t really think well of a Movado. Bulova makes some nice high-precision quartz models. A 7s26 Seiko 5 would be interesting, perhaps. Not that you can’t find Bulova/Citizen/Seiko (and Casio) more expensive than some Movados. I also just ordered a small number of Casios, and an Armitron.
You may find gray-market dealers have Movados, some under $300, that may be worth considering, if you what to get him a Movado.
He died intestate. I’d argue by giving you possession and control of the collection, and telling you not to tell his wife, he made a de facto gift to you. There is a case that lawfully, you are under no obligation to divest yourself of the watches, nor tell his wife. But I’d recommend consulting a wills and trusts attorney.
Ignore those on here telling you what the legal requirements are on this. They don’t even know what State he died in, which is crucial to know.
Go to jomashop.com, look for Tissot, Seiko, Orient, Citizen. Maybe can find a Hamilton at that price, dunno.
When this year did Parmigiani totally change its reputation?
The watch community seems rather disdainful of both of them overall. Flawed watches for high prices is my impression of the general discontent with them.
