What do you think about his stat? I think the games he focused on being a blue collar rim runner he did amazing. I don’t think this is only the Spurs fault or lack of point guard, he is enamoured of playing like a wing, which to me is the origin of most of his inefficiencies on offense.
Comparing Vic to historical seven footers sorta misses the point.
Watch the games
Wemby be like:
Floaters? Scoops? Layups over <6’10” punks? Non!
Fadeaway jumpers and 3’s?? JE T’AIME! 🗣️
Some players embrace contact and some don’t. Wemby currently does not. If I had to guess, I’d say Pop is a lot less enthused about Wemby than he’d like to be.
He was phenomenal inside in France last year as well, but was atrocious anywhere outside the paint.
I have no idea why people are trying to make him into something he is not, instead of focusing on his strengths.
bricktor wembustyama
At least give Sam Vecenie credit
So far, Wembanyama has struggled when asked to perform those difficult tasks. He’s only attempted 40 shots at the rim in half-court situations over his first 14 games, a remarkably low number for a player who is 7-foot-4.
Literally copied the paragraph almost word for word
Same story in France, his efficiency numbers were not great compared to other top European prospects, in large part because he took a lot of 3s while shooting them poorly. And while his FT% was good, he hardly got to the line at all. His NBA stats are looking similar.
Although given how much better the NBA is than the French league, it probably does bode well for his trajectory if he’s able to put up the same numbers in the NBA as a rookie that he did in France last year.
And while his FT% was good, he hardly got to the line at all.
This is straight up not true.
Spurs fans think shots at the rim will get him injured and it’s better for him to play like Kevin Durant until he’s bigger. I just don’t see it. Just teaching him how to be a worst version of himself on the court.
You really want a thin 7’5 guy banging in the post regularly? Yeah that’ll really lead to a long career…
I would be amazed if he turned out significantly better the Porzingas. He’s a slightly taller, slightly more athletic version of him, nothing about him says generational talent to me but I’ve been wrong many many many times before
He’s playing like he thinks he’s Jamal Crawford. Doesn’t seem like the best way to leverage his unique advantages, but what do I know?
Chet being a deadeye shooter and Vic being a lousy one is a very underrated part of the comparison between these two.
All of this looks a lot different and a lot better when the spurs field a roster that is looking to compete for a playoff spot.
bust
Partly because he lacks the mass to get good post positions, but mostly he camps out behind the line and jacks 7+ 3s/game
This sub has done a complete 180 from acting like Wemby is Prime KD with Rudy Gobert rim protection to acting like he’s a 7’4” Anthony Bennett, and it was insufferable both times
Well, playing like ass will do that
yea, everything is extremes now, noone can develop at any pace other than “he’s the next jordan” or “James Wiseman”.
