I knew it didn’t happen that often but I guess until recently I didn’t realize that LeBron is the only person of the last 20 years to accomplish this, which he did twice.

Tim Duncan was the last before him, in 2003 the year LeBron was drafted. So during LeBron’s time in the league, he is the only player to do so.

In history 10 players have done it:

  • Willis Reed (1970)
  • Kareem (1971)
  • Moses Malone (1983)
  • Larry Bird (1984, 86)
  • Magic Johnson (1987)
  • Michael Jordan (1991,92,96,98)
  • Hakeem (1994)
  • Shaq (2000)
  • Duncan (2003)
  • LeBron (2012,13)

Who can you see joining this list?

    Normally Jokic last season…

But maybe doesn’t sound good, if one player is three time consequent MVP and at the least final MVP at the same time :)))

    a) i’m gonna go to my grave saying it’s horseshit curry didn’t accomplish this in 2015

    b) i think it’s relatively possible this year, jokic is currently the leader in early mvp talks, and the team doesn’t look significantly worse when healthy, so i’d say he could manage it. also, to be a homer for once, tatum also has a chance. if the celtics can do exceptionally well this year, which they seem at least capable of, he’s their MVP pick, and he’s been a dark horse for a couple years anyway. similar story for the playoffs, they are an incredibly talented team and he’s pretty solidly the alpha

Low key it should have happened last year.

But Jokic is probably the closest bet to it happening soon. Giannis is another one but he has Dame now and I imagine that will siphon off some of his support for MVP. Maybe Luka if Dallas makes a run

    I would think so.

But, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room.

Giannis or Jokic could have the BEST season of their career.

And many would vote for Luka or SGA or ANT (as long as the Wolves can keep counting on Rudy and KAT LMAO!!!) for MVP just because they are someone new.

It’s tough because I feel MVPs are often given to players prior to their team being fully ready to win a chip, and by the time their team is built out, voter fatigue kicks in. Happened to the warriors, Bucks nuggets. Happened to lebron in the years he didn’t get mvp but won a title.

Seems like Jokic and Giannis have the best chance this year. And I’m a homer so I’ll throw KD in the mix as well.

If KD wins MVP he’d be the oldest player to win MVP since Jordan in 1998, both at age 35.

I’m even seeing some people saying LeBron might pull off MVP at 39, which would be unprecedented.

Curry should’ve won FMVP in 2015 and Jokic should’ve won MVP last year. Objectively.

Jokic will probably do it this year. He will definitely get a sympathy MVP to make up for the voters fucking him aka Perk trying to start a race war in Embiid’s name, and if they couldn’t stop him last playoffs I don’t see how anyone will beat the Nuggets this year.

I think Jokic should’ve had it last year but Kendrick Perkins pulled out the race card

Jokic was better overall than Embiid in the reg season and he proved it when the playoffs came
