at 0:45 AD and Lebron both touch the ball after DMitch’s first free throw.
Why? to throw him off or is it just superstition? or something else entirely?

Always think of this when people talk about it

In a recent episode of Iggy’s podcast, PJ Tucker explained that he touches the ball because he doesn’t get to take many shots during a game and he feels like he needs to touch the ball so he can stay in rhythm when he has an open look. I think a lot of players, especially role players who don’t handle the ball often, need to feel the ball so they’re not handling it “cold” when it does comes to them.
Kind of like how everyone who’s ever played baseball is compelled to pick one up and grip it like they’re throwing a 4 seamer anytime they see a baseball
I always held a baseball like a curve ball and would snap my fingers to have the ball jump up. Man I can’t imagine what id do to my arm if I tried to throw a curve ball right now 😂
…then switch to a 2 seamer, then put the ball back.
Totally works with every sport.
Ball goes in hand? Do the sport thing to ball.
Put the bad juju on it.
To jinx it. The thinking is if you touch the ball after the shooter hits, the shot will be a miss.
It’s how you pass on the Covid
Jazz flair fits the comment.
It is how Serge Ibaka gave it to my main man Rudy after all.
Damnit Serge
To get into the free throw shooter’s head. If you notice, they also sometimes will switch spots with the person on the other side of the lane. Anything to disrupt the free throw shooter.
Same reason they go out of their way to block the practice shots players take after a buzzer or whistle yeah
To make sure it’s of age. Giddey doesn’t do it.
