The Lakers have waved the white flag with 8 minutes to go in the 4th so it looks like Joel Embiid is also done for the night. He finished with 30 pts on 9-15 shooting (2-3 from 3, 10-12 FTs), 11 rebs, 11 asts, 1 stl and 1 blk in just 3 quarters against the Lakers.

His playmaking is looking so much more complete with Nurse’s offense. He’s had 8 or 9 assists in several recent games, 11 today in 3 quarters. Doc Rivers should never set foot in Philadelphia again

If there’s one thing that Nuggets fans and Sixers fans can agree on, it’s that Embiid and Jokic have completely sonned AD for years now. That is always a bad night for him.

He shot free throws so they had to put him down. The leagues been cracking down this year.

He only played 3 quarters, and his FTA per game went up because he shot 12 at the line. He is third all time in FTA’S per game

So expect people to keep pointing out how unfun it is to watch him play basketball

I guess this is the Sixers fan circlejerk thread where we ignore he got 1/3 of his points from FTs yet again.

This is the first season since butler that I’m looking at the Sixers roster and thinking that the Celtics and bucks have competition

Sixers also have continuity on their side while the other top teams have made major retools. They look great on paper and early on but it’s hard to say what’ll happen in the playoffs.

never doubt our ability to flounder when the lights are brightest. this is definitely the most hopeful i’ve been in years, but im still skeptical abt the playoffs just bc of how many disappointments the past few years have brought

this is the first year we have a competent coach. Barring injuries, this will be the first post-season where we’re not going into with a handicap

Just remember it’s an iron law of Philadelphia sports that the team has to lose in the most depressing, gut-wrenching, agonizing manner possible

I like seeing him sort of command the offence out there instead of being a finisher and only really passing out of doubles. guarding him becomes a completely different game.

I’m pretty sure this is the 4th time in the Sixers 12 wins where Embiid got to rest the entire 4th Quarter. And 2 of those times, he was 1 assist from a Triple Double through 3 Quarters.

It’s partially coaching but I think Embiid has also just improved a lot as a passer and is making better reads this season

He’s one of those guys who adds something to his game every couple of seasons and I’m sure he knew this offseason that passing out of doubles/defensive “swarms” was his biggest area he can work on

Nurse is putting him at the top of the key and letting him read the floor from there… while also incorporating motion off the ball. It’s a completely different environment for Joel.

        It’s partially coaching

It’s also roster construction. They finally added some wings (Batum, RoCo, Oubre) who can move off ball and shoot around Embiid. Makes his life easier.

I think Embiid always had the passing it’s just that rivers ran the worst offenses imaginable. Literally the Tyron Lue meme “give LeBron ball” but with Embiid.

I swore when watching Embiid under that offense he’d get doubled and yet still have no options to pass too.

embiid adds something to his game every season it’s crazy. came in with defense & post game, added the midrange shooting, then the 3s, then the handles, and now the passing.

Doesn’t get talked about enough how he’s 7’ 280 and plays like a wing 75% of the game.

It cracks me up that Rivers used the excuse that Joel needed to know where the shooters are to pass to as the reason he had no off ball action at all.

Now the offense moves and embiids assists are exploding.

Rivers is lazy, incompetent and stupid. I’m so fricking glad he’s finally gone.

“Doc Rivers is a basketball terrorist” has to be slipped on an ESPN segment at some point. They already let loose with the R-word. And the kicker would be mainstream America losing their minds at the former while “developmentally disabled” goes unnoticed.

Always good seeing AD get destroyed. Always good seeing the Lakers get destroyed. The fact that it was Embiid and the Sixers doing it is meh lol.
