In Europe, teams are often penalized by being forced to play in complete empty stadiums when teams are unable to control unruly fans. I would love for this to happen should this ever happen again.

If it is true that Philly fans were threatening to rape athlete’s family and rattling off addresses and security did nothing than the team definitely deserves severe punishment.

Dude needs to get a major suspension for touching a fan. Absolutely not okay. The NFL doesn’t need anymore of a reputation for protecting shit human beings.

If the fan was reported to security and security did nothing than this really should be a BIG problem for Philly and the NFL.

I’m genuinely curious if this is another one of those cases where wishing harm onto someone is somehow considered a “death threat”.

The old, “Look what you made me do!”, defense strategy. AKA: “Yeah, I used sticks and stones. But words hurt”.

Most people learn how to deal with being a part of a greater society in kindergarten. Most pro-athletes realize that fans want to get into your head, and distract you from paying attention to what you’re being paid to pay attention to. You let them distract you, they win. If you don’t want to them win, act like they don’t even exist.

The content of what the fan said doesn’t matter. Lawson cannot react like this and deserves punishment for approaching the fan. If his allegations against the fan are true, the fan should have been dealt with (and should still be handed a ban themselves), but that still doesn’t excuse Shaq losing his cool. He’s a professional and should be acting like one.

As an Eagles fan. Lawson didn’t seem like he did anything. He shouldn’t have been over there…But a warning to the player should be enough. I don’t care what happens to the fan either way.

If this was any other team, y’all would personally be writing Goodell to have him kicked out of the NFL, but since it’s the Eagles, this sub is like ‘ehhhhhh idk Jim…’

Im confused as to the story Lawson is trying to spin here. If there were repeated credible threats against him and his family members in the past then this is something to take to the police and not the internet. I also question his ability to somehow be able to pick out this one fan by sight. If this is a fan talking shit on a sideline then bro you have to tune it out addressing it is just going to make every single away game you play living hell because fans now know who to heckle.

Yeah also claiming “racism” or “I was threatened” can’t become a get out of jail free card for players to take out their frustration on fans. Fans crossing a line is unacceptable but you just call security and get them permanently banned from the stadium or something. That will hurt them more than a shove ever could.

His story frankly doesn’t matter. He crossed a line he shouldn’t have crossed regardless.

A lot of extremely clear bias in your comment which im sure you probably didn’t mean to show. Firstly, he explicitly states he did call security and they didn’t do anything. Secondly, it stops being a professional setting when you or your family get threatened. Just because they get paid millions of dollars does not mean they should shoulder threats, or even if it wasn’t, harassment. I know in Philly sports it’s a part of the culture but like you and I, no one wants to have to deal with this type of stuff. Hopefully he isn’t making an excuse but Philly isn’t exactly known for having the nicest fans towards opposing or even home teams.

Regardless if something was or wasn’t said can we all agree that the “shove” was super innocuous and not a big deal? If you watch the video it wasn’t a violent push.

Hard not to give the benefit of the doubt when you’re talking about Philly fans. They’ve cultivated their reputation over decades. It is well earned.
