Hello everyone!
We’re excited to announce that Tim Legler and Adam Mares will be joining us for an AMA on Wednesday, November 29th at 12:30PM ET.
Tim is one of r/NBA’s most beloved analysts and along with Adam Mares hosts a newly launched NBA-themed podcast called All-City All NBA Podcast.
You can check out the podcast here and learn more about it here.
PLEASE ASK ALL QUESTIONS HERE!
If you were the GM of the Pistons, what would you do to right the ship?
Hi Tim! Thank you for your consistently excellent basketball analysis in the big media landscape.
In your experience covering the league, how highly do you rate early season team chemistry as a predictor for championship success? Conversely, are there any contenders you would count out of contention due to a lack of chemistry, despite the talent?
Chemistry is vastly underrated when looking at the potential success of NBA teams. It’s a combination of guys actually liking being around each other AND role definition and acceptance. The top teams on my list this year have it. Nuggets, Celtics, Bucks. Let’s see about Suns, Mavericks, T-Wolves.
Adam-
First off congratulations on all the success you’ve had with DNVR and All-City. My question:
Do you think there’s anything that the general NBA world is still not fully understanding about Nikola Jokic and his impact on the game?
Keep up the great work!
For those who haven’t seen it yet: Adam and DNVR did a fantastic documentary on hoops in Serbia when they visited two summers ago. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeTmrsVW8qE
I’m gonna plug your t-shirts man they’re so good, I love mine so much: https://lurkdesigns.bigcartel.com/product/quesarito
Aww thanks so much man :)
Purchased a few shirts from here. Great shirt quality and great designs!
Love the question because you know the answer. Yes. The conversation around Jokic is so strange because so much of what is interesting about him as a person and player are under discussed on most of the large platforms. The intrigue about him isn’t always immediate and obvious, even if the passing makes highlights.
Jokic’s place in Serbian/Yugoslavian basketball tradition is very interesting, which is why I wanted to make A HUNDRED INVISIBLE THREADS. As my Serbian colleagues explained to me, Jokic didn’t just happen. He comes from a very rich line of basketball in Serbia that is influenced by a very interesting culture and tradition.
I think It is interesting to think about how little we know about Jokic the person and how that probably makes what we do know about him so much more interesting.
I think a lot of the best teams in the NBA are more team-oriented than the previous era. The Warriors are probably the biggest influence on this but the Spurs before them and the Nuggets most recently may be having an impact on what the new generation is aiming for. The Kings, Thunder, Magic, Pacers, all seem like they are growing in the image of Jokic and the Nuggets. Lots of young stars seem interested in forming “teams,” not just big 3s. We’ll see.
Obviously just the impact of having your center be the fulcrum of an offense is a trend we are seeing across the league. Sengun. Sabonis. Bam. And plenty others who are stepping out and playing the DHO game.
Adam, what would you consider to be your best work? (I’m just giving you an opportunity to plug, I’ve already seen it).
Love your work man, I’m proud of you for your growth.
Tim, I think the biggest surprises of the NBA season so far are the Orlando Magic and OKC Thunder. Are you a believer in these teams?
Also where have you been analyzing the game lately? I haven’t seen you on the regular ESPN channel in a hot minute and I miss seeing you break down the action the games.
Legs: do you think NBA plays are more complex today or in your era?
Adam, with All-City’s growing podcast network, has David Locke reached out about you starting to encroach on his territory?
ESPN, All-City and JJ’s pod, Tim, how do you have time to be on all these shows?
I’m a hoop junkie. What can I say? I love these formats where I can dive into a topic to a far greater degree than I can in a limited spot on live TV. Being more in control of the content and conversation is awesome
Love that you’re getting more chances to share your love and knowledge with us.
If the warriors have a mediocre season this year (i.e. they are a play-in team or worse), what paths do they realistically have to improve their team into contention?
If they cannot make substantial enough improvements, is it crazy to believe Steph will be traded in the next offseason?
Can you guys pin a comment linking the GDT thread
If your name didn’t have “Leg” in it what other body part would you want in your name?
You had a segment about prettiest shooting strokes a few weeks ago and you didn’t mention Vezenkov. I honestly don’t know what I’m watching when he shoots… is that shot pretty?!
Mr Legs !! Why does the NBA and media seem to hate the Miami Heat ? Is it because we don’t allow “moles”? Also Thank you for being the only guy on television to talk basketball without the emotional drama that others add.
Hey guys its Tim Legler. Really excited to be on here today answering all of your NBA questions. Hope you are enjoying the All City podcasts with Adam Mares. Let’s get this going…
Why does the NBA don’t issue any statements regarding the recent Paul and Foster incidents? Are they expecting to just be forgotten over time?
