Bro nobody cares about the NCAA either, it’s only talked about because of March Madness for betting. Idk what athleticism people can be talking about, the majority of NCAA players even on the good teams don’t sniff the NBA.

Because a lot of Americans are attached to the schools they went too, most Americans don’t have any attachment to Euroleague teams

No one thinks this unless they’ve never watched euro league. College basketball is fun when you’re following your team but most of the actual basketball is awful compared to professional leagues…because they’re not professionals.

I think your statement is flawed. I don’t think most basketball fans think NCAA basketball is “better” than Euro league ball. But it is absolutely more relevant. NCAA basketball games are on when people are awake in the US. A lot of people in the US went to a college that had solid basketball programs. A lot of people in the United States have done a bracket and paid attention to March Madness. The overwhelming majority of NBA players played in the NCAA, and the overwhelming majority of NBA players did not play in Euro league.

I don’t think minor league baseball is better than NPB or KBO. But a lot of baseball fans have been to way more minor league baseball games (and seen some of those players go onto the big leagues) and are a little bit familiar with their team’s minor league affiliates. They’re not watching Korean and Japanese baseball at odd hours that isn’t on TV.

Because it is lol. Why do you think so many top prospects from Europe come over to play in the U.S. for high school/ncaa?

who is comparing them? there are 18 teams in the Euroleague, all paid professionals, you know like the NBA

The NCAA has 351 division I college basketball programs. All college kids, no 30 year old men who have been paid pros for 10 years.

Actually thanks to covid and having medical/family exemptions there might be a few college players pushing close to 30.

Nobody thinks it’s “better” as in the teams are superior.

People here just don’t care to tune in a 3 am to watch some random team full of dudes who will never play in the NBA named after the local soccer club throw around a weird striped ball as they jump around their trapezoid “key”. Stop asking these questions and just follow the Spurs like the rest of the arrogant Europeans.

They don’t. And this thread is ignorant. No one in their right mind is telling people that playing in a professional league is harder than playing in a college league.

Is the NCAA better than the euro league? Yes. It’s more exciting, and always will be. The NCAA functions as the US’s version of small scale soccer (football) clubs. People will always have more of an affinity to their school winning and the excitement that comes with that (as well as the exciting plays that happen in the NCAA, to which there is a VERY large history), than the Euroleague.

I’ve heard people bring up athleticism or whatever but this statement is the true definition of ignorant

It’s pretty ignorant to believe that you think people should have to pay for, and enjoy something, that doesn’t bring them enjoyment. The high levels of athleticism is what makes as entertaining as it is at the highest level. Nobody wants to see a bunch of people laying the ball up all game long, sorry. It’s just the truth. That’s why the WNBA hasn’t gained popularity. That’s why the Euroleague will never be “better” than the NBA, well, at least until they bring that same athleticism to the table.
