I see 5 other coaches ahead of him including ime udoka, thunder coach etc. Thought he was quite reasonable in coaching with a record to prove it

    It’s not really a “who has the best team” award, it’s a “whose team exceed expectations the most” award.

    Because he’s got a team with multiple All-NBA players and all-stars, and that same team has been to the ECF a couple times and the finals recently…it’s basically expected that they have one of the better records at this point.

    Udoka and especially Mosley on the other hand have taken rosters with “less” talent (in terms of star power) that were probably expected to be 2 of the worst teams in the league again and they have them both playing extremely well, and in the Magic’s case they’re near the top of the East.

    Because the team he coaches made the finals before he joined them. He has one of the best rosters in the league and he isn’t really doing anything super impressive compared to a guy like Jamal Mosey or Ime or Mark

    COTY is more on who did better than expected. Its like in MLB, the managers of the dodgers, Astros, or Braves haven’t won in the past years because their teams are supposed to be good

    The magic are the best theyve been in 12 years while starting Goga Bitaze rn. The thunder are one of the youngest teams in the league. Both are good.
