I was looking for something like this. But I couldn’t find any. So I decided to make it myself.

The mods can sticky this if they wish. I will edit it as we move along with the tourney.

I’d like to see it moved closer to a March Madness style tournament once you get past the group play. That’s where some real excitement kicks in.

Did OGs garbage time 3-pointer at the end of the raptors-nets game eliminate the nets from the tournament by a single point?

I hope the nba makes some changes to add more games to the first round. Going 3-1 and getting eliminated is kind of dumb.

Would rather them narrow the field to 16, then do a 2nd group elimination to get it to 8 or 4, or a 16 team knockout bracket.

Kinda lame that Bucks/Knicks and Suns/Lakers are rematches.

Should play teams from other groups IMO

I’m confused. Are the bottom 2 wildcard teams under seeding just there to show the relative standings? It makes it seem like they have wildcard spots but that can’t be.

It’s showing the 3 teams that were eligible for the wildcard slot by being 2nd in group, and then showing the ordering of them so it’s clear why the wildcard team was on top. It’s useful but a bit confusing to label all 3 as wildcard

Honestly the tournament is great. The aggregate point system is fun and the games are hype. A few tweaks and this can become cemented.

I really hope this tournament takes off.

I’d really love to see these group stage games as standalone NBA Cup games. Have a more robust group stage where point differential tiebreakers only matter within your group (not cross group like this year’s wild card spot), and an expanded knockout stage.

If the league went with 16 teams in the knockout stage, it would look like this:

      WEST:

      • (8) Mavs @ (1) Lakers
      • (5) Wolves @ (4) Suns
      • (6) Rockets @ (3) Pelicans
      • (7) Warriors @ (2) Kings

      EAST:

      • (8) Sixers @ (1) Bucks
      • (5) Cavs @ (4) Knicks
      • (6) Magic @ (3) Celtics
      • (7) Nets @ (2) Pacers

Some interesting matchups. Just go with a Saturday-Sunday Round of 16. Have a weekend with a 4-game slate. Just like it’s the opening of the playoffs or Christmas day. 12pm-3pm-6pm-9pm or 230-5pm-730-10pm

I think it’ll be even better once the league expands to 32 teams. Groups of 5 are kinda awkward. 3-1 teams not advancing feels weird. 8 groups of 4 that all play each other twice, winner goes to the quarterfinal will be cool once 2 more teams are added.

Sucks the Magic didn’t make it. The Bulls should get fine by getting beat so bad by the Celtics. So dumb.
