The top 6 teams in the West and 3 of the top 6 teams in the east are not historically “big market” teams, and as a fan its been incredible having good games almost every night. Can the media and NBA take the NFL approach and talk about more than LA, GS, and Boston?
Also worth noting, a lot of these top teams are using home grown talent. Many “super teams” are getting burned for bad trades.
ESPN, feel free to take this.
Ratings and clicks. If anyone watched anything besides the Lakers and Warriors then it’d happen. The local TV ratings beyond the Warriors are a disaster. The lowest attendance, in terms of % sellout, are all small market teams, so maybe start at home.
Man, I still can’t believe GS is now a big market team.
If you told me this when I first started watching the NBA, I would spit in your eye and walk away drinking my juice box.
There’s hope, man. There’s real hope . . .
By NBA media do you mean literally just ESPN?
Will we have a 60 win team this year?
Sick of being force fed Spurs bullshit and Wemby propaganda.
It is, and I love it.
I mean, look at the Warriors and Clippers.
Clippers have Leonard, PG3, Westy, and Hardon, and they are under .500
Warriors have Curry, Klay, Dray, and Wiggins, and they are under .500
This league is SO deep that ‘superteams’ are struggle to stay at .500
And we can shit on the Pistons to no end (and as a Pistons fan, I have to concede it is deserving), but even that roster still has a lot of talent on it when you look a Cade, Beef Stew, Ivey, Bojan, Joe Harris, Duren, Thompson, and trouble big guys with raw talent in Wiseman and Marvin III.
That’s that bottom of the barrel in the NBA and there is no reason that team shouldn’t be able to compete in terms of talent.
in fact big markets are starting to have a harder time because they cant look towards the long term. they have to trade for Harden in 2023
