Well, that sort of podcast won’t survive for long in my podcatcher app.

But the “2 guys” format is very common, and to stay with the theme of the cartoon:

Often one of the duo is clearly the main guy while the other interjects something that tries to be humorous but falls flat, or contributes so little that they’re just a sounding board for #1.

In some podcasts this is so bad that I constantly carry a little vicarious embarassment for #2 while listening.

A little scripting helps, or an agreement that e.g. #1 talks (freely) and #2 reads (articles or quotes etc.).

The one I used to listen to, was 2 standup comedians. One had funnier experiences and ranted a lot, the other was funnier in general. It was particularly funny because they were polar opposites. First guy is super intense, other guy is the calmest person ever.

They stopped making new episodes though, guy #1 went to the US, got a spot on Kill Tony and now Texan comedy fans can’t get enough of the Estonian Assassin.

On cable TV / talk shows, that’s “the host and the sidekick.” Kimmel and Guillermo, Conan and Andy, some do that with the lead of the band (Colbert, Fallon, Meyers)…

They miss the point of podcasting, which is to A) Have a subject you’re unfathomably passionate and knowledgeable about and B) Be interesting.

If one or both are lacking, you’ll never make it.

Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

The rules are simple:

  • The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author’s website, for instance).
  • The comic must be a complete story.
  • If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
  • You may post comics from others or your own.
  • If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
  • The comic can be in any language, but if it’s not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post’s ‘body’ field (note: you don’t need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
  • Politeness.
  • AI-generated comics aren’t allowed.
  • Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.
