Well, I guess it’s time to stop buying Xiaomi devices. Sad though, I did like a lot of their non-phone stuff. Their umbrella is one of the better ones out there, even more expensive brands like Knirips doesn’t have the features it has.

Global Xiaomi roms isn’t quite the same as Chinese roms. MIUI has been being the most open and safe smartphone ware in the domestic market, although that might sound funny. Whether their products are still safe to use needs further inpection.

Global ROMs are quite different in many areas.

Also, MIUI is anyways shit and should be replaced with custom ROM if possible. Better privacy and more.

Honestly random Xiaomi crap is better quality than 99% of the AliExpress versions of the crap.

I’m curious though - the umbrella has… features? Like, more than blocking the rain? lol

For context, shit flagged as dangerous in China can lead to serious and inhumane punishments for the recipient

Um, no. It flags it for the user to review and urges a removal, that you can ignore. That’s it.

I live in China and have a Xiaomi phone as a work device, and use all sorts of apps the powers that be don’t like on it.

I suppose it might be different for the Han majority, but for minorities like Uighurs, they are much harsher.
