    Did they mention anything about “deadly old diseases” coming back as well due to political reasons?

    And in 1998, the US had only admitted AIDS was real for barely a decade. So it would seem logical to expect more new diseases down the line.

      That sentiment sums up the average persons outlook in the 90s well. We overdosed on optimism.
