And in 1998, the US had only admitted AIDS was real for barely a decade. So it would seem logical to expect more new diseases down the line.
More people thought cancer would be cured than the US starting another full scale war.
That sentiment sums up the average persons outlook in the 90s well. We overdosed on optimism.
