The entire mission is to seek out new life and new civilizations and establish relations with them! Countless times you’ve put your entire crew second to that mission, and yet here you are face to face with a 3 million year old intelligent being made of magnetic energy that has absorbed all the knowledge of other long dead civilizations, pleading with you for just some company, and you give it the cold shoulder. Heartbreaking.

Fantastic, I’m watching through them for the first time as an adult. Can’t wait! I was planning on watching the entire franchise in release order, but season 3 of TOS was a challenge, and knowing my reward at the end of it was TAS did not help. Yesteryear was fairly good, as I’ve come to expect from Fontana, but even the premise that Spock is only alive because he went through the guardian and saved himself as a child MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE. it’s too paradoxical even for Trek. Anyway can’t wait to see Kirk and crew traumatize the rest of the galaxy.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun show. It very much feels like season four and five of the original series.

Especially since Disco and Spock had already encountered a similar sphere which ended up downloading its data to the Disco computer systems. Think of how much more badass Enterprise no bloody abcd would have been with a super intelligent being advising the crew.
