The White House invited the U.S. women’s hockey team to attend Donald Trump’s State of the Union on Tuesday, but the players said they are unable to attend.
A spokesperson for the team told NBC News’ Monica Alba that the team, which won the gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, was “sincerely grateful” for the recognition, but the players are unable to attend “due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments.”

As a Canadian, I suddenly feel much better that our team lost to these American women.
Fuck the American men’s team though.
I had no opinion on the men’s hockey team. But seeing them party with Patel and glaze Trump, they can all puck off.
The Women’s game is so much better. The American women are gracious people and excellent players, they actually dominated Canada that game.
The PWHL is awesome and I think for any new person to hockey, they should check out this league as well as the NHL.
I don’t know why any team does this with this child rapist.
I have little respect for any of them that aren’t turning it down.
Meanwhile the men’s will be gargling up the attention.

I’m sure the men’s team would be happy to fill in. What would be interesting is how they would respond to The Idiot inevitably shit-talking the women’s team, during the speech, for dissing him.
Nobody who has any respect for trump has any respect left for women. They wouldn’t give a flying fuck about standing up for the women’s team. And part of me hopes that they show up just to prove me wrong and publicly call him a misogynistic piece of shit when he does shit talk the women’s team.
Or they just walk out mid-shit talk and refuse to listen to him bash any American Olympic team. Rejection is still a win for him, but walking out mid-bitchfest would embarrass and enrage him!

How is it that he can still be in office when he’s been officially convicted? I’m not American but I’m just baffled you can be all the basic terrible things he is but also be legally a criminal and in office still…
Because he is in office is how he is avoiding jail time (unconditional discharge). You see, the American justice system is only tailored to fuck over the poor. It’s essentially the injustice system and especially now more than ever.
