Today’s game is Halo. It’s been a hot second since I played this I feel like. Some stuff happened and it was hard to get everyone together. I was finally able to tonight though.
I tried something a little different and had my friends pick the “main” screenshot. They picked the one above because it looks like some “looney toons shenanigans” and “the one slipped on a banana”.
I can kind of see it, I didn’t really think about it in the moment when I took it though. Honestly I kind of like it. I feel like the generic action shots really don’t encapsulate what this game has come to mean to me in the time I’ve spent with it. It feels like a little piece that ultimately doesn’t showcase how I feel about it.
Speaking of how I feel: Boarding Action. All my friends hate this map. I love it. I have fond memories of playing it in middle school in Custom Edition. We’d get a big LAN party going in Wood Shop class and just dick around (instead of, yknow, cutting wood or something). Maybe it’s nostalgia but I love this map. It’s great for that. I could honestly sit there and just watch it for a while and enjoy the time. CE really has that special aesthetic.
And finally, since I’m in a rush for time, and in direct contradiction with my earlier statement about action shots, I captured this one I really liked. We were playing infection and I somehow managed to keep up with 9 Melees in a row and not die. I got this cool shoot of me meeting my friend. I may not like action shots. But this gets a pass as a cool memorial.
my buddy used to be one of the top players in halo. i remember one game we played he had 45 kills. me and another friend legitimately couldnt combine for 5 so we lost
Top players are both impressive and a little frustrating lol. No grudges against them but damn am i left both awestruck and disappointed when i bump into them in social games

As a Halo Oldhead, I really hate to say this but the kids aren’t playing Halo. Its just us Oldheads, because 343 (now wearing mustache glasses as Halo studios) has done such a terrific job ruining the series. I didn’t know it was possible to bury a series that controlled the world so badly.
But then Disney did the exact same thing with Star Wars, and other IP owners are following suit. Crazy times.

I keep meaning to do the Water Ranking too, but every time I try to do it, I go “Well, I haven’t played in a bit, I better sit down and replay it so I can double check my opinion” and then get sidetracked playing a whole game. I really should stop doing that and trust my intuition lol.
As for the list, I think I might be able to use the Lemmy API (if It has one that is) to automate it so I don’t sift through 600 Days worth of photos (which is crazy now that I think about it). Maybe have it cross reference a Database of Games and then I can go in and manually double check everything

I initially just wanted to share some cool screenshots I had built up lol. I started talking about them at some point though, and now it’s just kind of turned into me word vomiting my thoughts about the with the screenshots (and very rarely trying to pretend I know what I’m talking about and get a little academic with it with full paragraphs and such)
