I didn’t know there was a second one. I just got the first not too long ago (it’s almost always on sale) and I think I’m about a third into it (just slightly past staying the “B” area), assuming it’s 3 parts like it looks like.

I wasn’t expecting another one so soon, after the long wait between TTP1 and TTP2!

I’ll absolutely buy it as soon as possible. TTP1 is my favourite puzzle game, and even if TTP2 was a bit of a letdown, I still had lots of fun with its puzzles.

I kinda gave up on the second one about halfway through. Should really get around to finishing it one of these days.

It’s hard to say definitively really. I think it felt a bit ‘samey’ maybe? Also being an old man means i have less and less time to spend gaming. Buying a steam deck definitely helped, but i haven’t even switched that on in months.

Well I hear those complaints, I feel like I used to be a gamer, and now that I have a family and a whole bunch of responsibilities, these days I’m more of a guy with a fancy PC.

I read some other posts in this thread saying it was too easy, and I guess I can understand that. There weren’t a lot of places that had me stumped for long.

I think they do need to consider adding in some new mechanics to the puzzles, I think they lean heavily on the light beams and I’d love to see some weirder stuff. For instance, the way that portal 2 added liquids, and the liquids had cool interactions with the existing mechanics. Cubes could bounce or slide on them. The streams of liquids could flow through portals, etc. In Talos, they add new mechanics from time to time, but they don’t always interact with each other in interesting ways. I know that’s difficult to do, but that might be the key to a good puzzle game sequel.

Yeah this is surprising how quick the announcement was! I didn’t expect to hear this for a couple more years.

Hell yeah. I wasn’t expecting a third game, and this is a more than welcome surprise.

I’ve only ever played the first and never beat it. It was an interesting game. What were other people’s thoughts on the games?

I got very close to the end, on the tower, but was stuck on one of the last puzzles. It was a great game though

1 was great but flawed. Just play it blind and finish it.

2 the puzzles were bizarrely easy, but an incredibly gorgeous game.

Both have great soundtracks too. Definitely a go-at-your-own-pace franchise and very antithetical to modern AAA gaming. Know who Croteam are and Devolver Digital, and their relationship and what they make and what they stand for.

I adore both games and think quite highly of them. Again though, don’t look anything up, ever.

I haven’t finished the base game yet! I fell off a year or so ago and have meant to get back into it, but just haven’t gotten there yet. I know that the DLC is supposed to be harder, but still, coming off the baseline talos1 being what it was, I still wanted a higher bar to enter, so to speak, with the challenge puzzles being even more difficult (without being TOO arbitrary and overly convoluted, obv).

The world they crafted for 2 as well was so depressingly beautiful. I did not expect that it would play with my emotions like it did.

But also, yes, the puzzles were bafflingly simple. I kept expecting them to ramp it up and layer the mechanics, but they never did. I did not get the trophy for spending 30 minutes on a single puzzle.

Yeah, I expected them to combine mechanics further in but they never really do. There are lots of combinations of tools which go unexplored. That being said, I’ve only played the base game so maybe the DLCs do combine them?

Wish they still made VR versions for these. The first one was great.
