Trek Long island was great this year. Sad about the lack of direction for future trek, but will always watch what comes out.

The miasma of sadness I feel knowing that the SFA and SNW sets have been ripped down in Toronto and Mississauga is making it hard for me to really get excited and embrace the marketing for SNW season four.

I know I will be watching with my spouse and engaging here, but it’s very really not a great feeling given I was around for TOS’ cancellation, TAS’ cancellation, Enterprise’s cancellation and now the closing of this era.

Of those, I was only around for Enterprise’s cancellation and, given I had pretty low esteem for it and for Nemesis, that one hurt a lot less. It felt like death by natural causes, the sad result of a gradual decline. This time around it doesn’t feel natural at all, particularly right on the heels of SFA’s very strong first season. Extremely frustrating.

Yah, I was more ready to let go of new Star Trek by the time Enterprise was canceled — but that show finally felt like it was all coming together in season four so it was frustrating that it didn’t get a full run.

It certainly lowered my enthusiasm for SFA s2, knowing they went hard with a cliffhanger finale… That show had a lot of spirit and promise, I wanted to follow those kids through the academy.

SNW — I know I’m in the minority here, but I couldn’t get into the show’s tone, and especially the way it’s leading doggedly towards TOS, literally checking boxes for each continuity item. It feels like a dead man walking, and even more so now. This is actually the first time I’ve looked forward to a Trek show ending.

I really wanted them to lead into a retelling of TOS. Oh jeez, a modern retelling of City on the Edge of Forever?
