Well no shit. The air in LA used to be brown and some days it was dangerous to breathe, with massive levels of lead. Laws banning lead in gas and catalytic converters cleaned it up.
But Americans hate the EPA.
Beijing cleaned up because of laws banning ICE cars in the city, not voluntary efforts from consumers.
Depends what you compare it to really. Its better than ICE cars, but electric bike, bus or train is even better.
Yeah cars are really bad on many metrics. Removing exhaust alone isn’t going to make them good.
