Ms Carroll, 80, told ABC News on Monday: "I’d like to give the money to something Donald Trump hates.
“If it will cause him pain for me to give money to certain things, that’s my intent.”
The former magazine columnist suggested the money could be used to set up a “fund for the women who have been sexually assaulted by Donald Trump”.
is she actually going to get the money?
If he loses the appeal, I believe she will. He has to put 120% of the award in escrow with the court while the appeal process unfolds. The extra is actually for interest and fees, so if the appeal takes awhile, she might actually get more (if I’m understanding that correctly)!
That’s a very important part of the process. It does 2 things.
1: makes sure the victim can actually get the money at the end of the process.
2: prevents pointless appeals that have zero chance of success. Or at least makes the appealer think about the implications of losing a frivolous appeal.
