The timing is incredible. Everyone is so burnt out on trump news that they stopped paying attention. I know I have.

I mean, I watch the news to see how the world is CHANGING, not how it’s staying the same.

And I see the world is getting worse, but it’s steadily and predictably getting worse, so, again, not much reason to watch the news.

Glad to see that this is top comment. We finally reached the point where it doesn’t get more outrageous anymore. A mere lie? It’s just more of the same.

(famous last words! Let’s see what MAGA comes up with next)

It would be more of a headline if Trump spoke honestly for once.

Of course we still need to report & read. But meh, put it on the pile that we hopefully will need later.

What’s terrible is I need to suffer with his tv career, then his political career, and then once he dies and some people under his thumb start dishing up all the dirt, I’m still going to have to hear about his shit. Even after he dies it won’t be over. It’s like he’s vandalized reality itself.

        Native New Yorker here.

He was a fixture in the local papers long before he went national.

He lost his hometown in every election.

The only time I want to see him on TV would be a recreation of the black mirror episode where the PM has to fuck a pig. Trump could be either the PM or the pig.

Even before tv he was a terrible contractor and nearly bankrupted the ny/NJ construction scene. Hell he managed to lose money on casinos which are federally regulated to make sure the house makes money.

This is probably similar to how people felt about Nixon, Reagan, Clinton etc.

        I’m agreeing with you btw.

Even people who hated him admitted that Reagan was a smooth politician.

Gorbachev told a story about how he and Reagan were meeting in Helsinki for arms talks.

The protocol was that the americans would arrive first, talk to the press outside, then wait in the building. Then the soviets would show up.

Reagan broke protocol and came out to greet Gorbachev. Gorbachev is in a hat and coat, looking like a commuter, and Reagan is wearing a beautiful suit and looking like The Leader Of The Free World.

I’m sure you’re right, but with the ease of spreading information via the Internet, we get to hear about everything all day. I’m sure this is what it was like for those closest to those presidents enough to be up to date all of the time.

I agree, no more posting about trump on the Internet after hes gone. Let the journalist and historians write their book but keep all of it in paperback or pdf. Not on social media and forums

Honestly it’s working. I don’t care what that buffoon is doing. The opposition seems to be without plan why should I care? Let him just do whatever. He is so incompetent he will not even be able to dictator correct.

That doesn’t make him or the people under him harmless beings that don’t have real impact on real people.

possibly and even then not for long. but once the dictatorship is established, it’s hard to get rid of it again.
